The second ship of the fleet to bear the name of fish of the family Wrasse.
SSN-639 is named in commemoration of the fleet submarine TAUTOG
(SS 199). The keel for the second TAUTOG was laid 27 January 1964 at Ingalls Shipbuilding
Corporation, Pascagoula, Mississippi. She was inactivated 25
October 1996 at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
